We were delighted to have been invited by our architectural glazing client, Structura UK, to attend the prestigious Schueco UK Excellence Awards, run in association with the Journal of the Royal Institute of British Architects, at the top of the 42-storey Leadenhall Building – better known as the ‘cheesegrater’ in London.
And we were even more delighted on the day when they won the Refurbishment category for their work on the Grade II* listed Congress Theatre in Eastbourne.
We worked with Structura to put together an award entry that helped them stand out against tough competition and showcase their incredible work, which won praise from the conservation surveyors Faithful + Gould, Eastbourne Borough Council and Historic England. Commenting on the award, MD Manny Patel said, “This was a fantastic project to completely refurbish the front and east facades of the building, including replacing the original 1960s glazing. This has not only made the building safer and helped to reduce running costs, but also ensures that it is much more comfortable for theatre-goers.”
Structura was also highly commended for its work on the iconic Queens Building, a conversion of an Art Deco cinema to flats and shops in west London.
