Helping Local Businesses START Marketing
“I would rather die of passion than of boredom.” — Vincent van Gogh
When we set up The Marketing Matrix in 2012, we knew that we wanted to help passionate people who needed a little help to realise their dreams of running their own business, charity or not-for-profit.
We remember how scary it was, setting off on a new venture on your own, having just left a cosy corporate job. So we wanted to share what we had learned about the power of laser focus and good marketing strategy with those who are just starting out.
At a networking meeting for women who were thinking of setting up small businesses, we met a young mum who had a great idea for her business, but when it came to promoting it, she said, “I just don’t know where to START!”.
We knew that the marketing structure that we use for our clients with larger businesses was just as relevant for tiny ones. Whether you measure your budget in tens of pounds or millions, the same principles of what makes good marketing apply.
Anneve had spent many late nights writing engaging and practical course content specifically for small business owners – all we needed was somewhere to deliver training.
In November 2016, we moved into our beautiful premises by the river Thames at Rosewells Boathouse in Walton Marina and set up the light-filled, inspirational training space we’d dreamed of. Within a fortnight of moving in, we had ten attendees at our first meeting. And we’ve never looked back.
Our meetings are designed to be affordable, costing from just £36 per session for a practical and supportive three-hour workshop, including refreshments and handouts.
I have attended a START Marketing Meeting with The Marketing Matrix and I can’t rate them highly enough! The positive energy, clear delivery and content is 100% relevant and CURRENT for any small to medium enterprise. Jeanette M.
I really enjoyed digging deep to understand more about my business and exactly who I am targeting. I feel so much clearer on the purpose of my business and who my customer is. Ting L.
We’d love to see you at our next START Marketing Meeting!
We’re very proud and absolutely delighted to be finalists in the 2018 Toast of Surrey Awards with our START Marketing Meetings in the Contribution to the Community Category!
The Charities we Support:
Emma is deputy chair of the NAS Surrey Branch, a volunteer-run parent to parent support group with 1500 members in Surrey that runs local support groups, activities for children, talks and a large conference for families affected by autism. We are currently building a new WordPress website to help the charity improve its communication with members.
We first met Katherine Greening from Anstee Bridge in 2012 and were blown away by her passion for helping young people through creativity. Anstee Bridge is a social enterprise in Kingston upon Thames which runs creative programmes for year 11 students who have become disengaged with education. Part of Achieving for Children, the project supports over 30 children a year who would otherwise be at risk of leaving education altogether.
